DEVOTIONS

The bible tells us that we should know the word.  This is difficult for me, because I am horrific at memorization and to be completely honest I am also lazy when it comes to memorizing.  It takes constant work for me but I do believe it is a positive influence that I could really use in my everyday life.  Therefore for the next year, I will be memorizing 52 Bible verses, one a week, to use in my life.  I know in difficult times throughout my life I had wished I had memorized a verse so I could be focusing on the scripture instead of the negative thoughts that seem to constantly enter into my mind. 

The Bible provides:

Daily Triumph Over Sin – I must say regrettably I have sinned a lot and I am sure I will again in the future but I hope I will not commit a sin knowingly.

Likeness to Christ – I certainly would like to be changed into Christ likeness.  I can’t think of anyone else that I would rather be like!

Comfort to People You Love – There have been times when I have seen love ones struggle through hardships and I would have liked to have guidance at the tip of my tongue of God’s word.

Helping Unbelievers Understand the Word of God – Many times I have been questioned by non believers and I did not and still do not know the Bible well enough to stand up for my beliefs. 

These are several reasons why I am adding devotions into my daily routine.  I sincerely believe knowing the scriptures will enhance my life.
