DO YOU GIVE THANKS?
It is really important to give thanks for everything that we have, whether it is in good or bad times of our lives. I know through all of the bad experiences in my life, I can be thankful for who I have become as a result. I certainly would not be as strong as I am today if I had not experienced the pain, struggles and adversity. Most importantly, I would also take ordinary things for granite. When you have been at the bottom of the barrel it certainly makes you appreciate everything you have. I try to give thanks to God everyday for who I am and the love that I have from my friends and family.
It is so very easy to complain and a lot of times we may believe that it makes us feel better. At the present moment, my family’s financial state is not the best and my health is not where I would like it to be. At times, it would be so easy to complain, but I know that in the end that all things will work out for the best and I must keep my faith.
I was listening to a TV program this week and it was about Mom’s complaining about their responsibilities. One woman had a son that had Down’s syndrome as well as autism and it was a very sad story. She was truly struggling to take care of him. My heart went out to both the mother and the son. The mother was not complaining she was simply at the end of her rope reaching out for help. While there were other mothers on the program who had very healthy children who were complaining about their responsibilities as a mother. It is one thing to reach out for help and another thing to complain. Complaining gets you nowhere but surrounding yourself with negative energy.
Be thankful for what you have and do not worry what others have or what they are doing. You can always find someone who is doing better than you and you can always find someone doing a lot worse than you are. Sometimes the grass looks much greener on the other side but it is not. You never know what a person’s life is like until you truly live it. It is so very easy to judge others whether it is because they have too much or too little but that is not our job.
Our job is to be true to ourselves and others with love and gratitude.
